Wow, time sure does fly at the holidays!

Thanksgiving was small this year. Just me and my husband and our kids. I invited my friend Ashley over because her husband was out of town for work and I don’t think people should be alone during the holidays.

Luckily, my husband loves me a lot and knew I was way too busy to get any actual holiday planning done, so he ordered Thanksgiving dinner this year!

Thumbs up!

Dinner was a success!

After dinner and dessert, Ashley brought out some of her knitting that needed a little TLC. Not too long ago she had a (gasp!)…moth problem, but she also had a shawl that had a burn. Of course, about the time I was going to Google “darning”, the internet took a dump. I had to wing it.

Trying something without my internet safety net.

I think I did a pretty good job.

Giving Thanks…

Thursday, November 27th, 2014 | blah blah blah, Holiday | No Comments

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! I hope you are all spending it with the ones you love.

As for me, I am thankful for so many things. I figured I would take a moment to share them with you.

I am thankful for my family. For my parents who embraced my strangeness throughout the years. For my husband who puts up with my constant evolving and leaves his comfort zone so I can explore things out of mine. For my kids, who are weird and wonderful in so many ways.

I am thankful for the friends I have met throughout the years. My sisters in fiber arts and my sisters in podcasting for all of the opportunities they have given me to try new things and meet new people. For all of the creative people I have met on Ravelry, Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter…who cheer me on without ever having met me. I’m thankful for the folks that take the time to read my blog.

I am thankful that I have a job that I enjoy. It’s one that puts me in daily contact with friendly, supportive people who encourage my professional and personal pursuits.

Lastly, I am thankful for the long holiday weekend and the time I will have to work on making Christmas gifts!

Have a happy holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! As for me, I’m planning on staying home as much as possible and spending time not only cooking a turkey (yup, I’m on turkey duty this year), but also whipping up some Christmas projects!

Not too long ago, my girl’s troop made some clothespin turkeys for Meals on Wheels. In the interest of saving time, the adults helped too.

I am an avid Black Friday avoider…so the more time I can spend at home working on something fibery related, the better. More importantly, I feel like I have fallen behind on getting things done. I need to fix that. Hopefully the long weekend is all I need to get me back on track!

Taking a break for Thanksgiving

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 | blah blah blah, Holiday | No Comments

I decided to take a little break from blogging to work on my Thanksgiving dinner. I invited some friends over and and we did some marathon cooking.

We did have a little down time, after the turkey went into the oven…so Mallory helped me weave in some ends on what will be my very first weaving project.

Crafting downtime...

More on that in a future blog post though…

I am pleased to report my turkey KICKED ASS. Which is good, because I was worried.

Happy Turkey Day!

Thursday, November 25th, 2010 | blah blah blah, charity, knitting | 1 Comment

It’s been a long day and I am not quite sure why I am still up.

I was up late last night finishing up my scarf…

Done! Except for the ends...

Done! Except for weaving in the ends...

I am pretty sure that they said it should be 40 inches long, which seems a little short to me. I am going to block this one though and stretch it out a little bit. It’s going to be super warm and I ended up using all three balls of alpaca yarn. Some soldier out there is gonna love it!

So, I went full speed ahead with my knitting today while turkey was cooking and folks were watching football. I worked on my Tilting Tardis stole when I wasn’t taking the twins out for a “Mommy and Me” Adventure in the neighborhood.

The kids will tell me what they want pictures of and I put the Hipstamatic on random...

We walked all over the place. I was trying to get them to burn off some energy before we dove into Thanksgiving dinner.

It was super tasty!

Then after dinner and holiday specials, the kids went to bed and I started knitting again.

Of course, Mom and I busted open the bottle of Bailey’s, which wasn’t helping with my lace knitting skills. I was furiously trying to bust out row after row…but I finally reached the point where I needed to stop. When you are tinking more than you are knitting…you should just put it down and step away from the yarn.

I'm stepping away now.

I guess I should be off to bed. I am taking my mom shopping in the morning. Yes, on Black Friday…against my better judgement.
