Giving Thanks…

Thursday, November 27th, 2014 | blah blah blah, Holiday | No Comments

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! I hope you are all spending it with the ones you love.

As for me, I am thankful for so many things. I figured I would take a moment to share them with you.

I am thankful for my family. For my parents who embraced my strangeness throughout the years. For my husband who puts up with my constant evolving and leaves his comfort zone so I can explore things out of mine. For my kids, who are weird and wonderful in so many ways.

I am thankful for the friends I have met throughout the years. My sisters in fiber arts and my sisters in podcasting for all of the opportunities they have given me to try new things and meet new people. For all of the creative people I have met on Ravelry, Instagram, Tumblr and Twitter…who cheer me on without ever having met me. I’m thankful for the folks that take the time to read my blog.

I am thankful that I have a job that I enjoy. It’s one that puts me in daily contact with friendly, supportive people who encourage my professional and personal pursuits.

Lastly, I am thankful for the long holiday weekend and the time I will have to work on making Christmas gifts!

Have a happy holiday!

I am truly blessed…

I have to say…one thing about knitting that always amazes me is how many awesome people I meet. In my 5 years of knitting, I have so many people from different walks of life with various life experiences. People who willing to help you out, whether it is a knitting problem or a life problem.

I have to admit, I have had quite a lot going on in my life the last 6 or so months. Some of the situations I have found myself in are very much new to me. At times, I feel like I just need advice from someone who might have a more objective point of view. Lately, I’ve needed it quite a lot.

It must have been in the stars. Friday night I was hanging out with the ladies and Dr. Gemma (of CogKNITive) and Gigi (of The Knitmore Girls) walked in. I was talking about some of the stuff going on, and the advice these women had given me was perfectly timed.

So I just wanted to say thank you to Gemma and Gigi for making me feel so much better! I appreciate it more than you know!

I was so caught up in the excitement…

…that I forgot to mention something really special that happened.

Towards the end of the night, I saw some ladies off to the side eyeing my Valsez dans l’abime. I didn’t think anything of it as I am pretty proud of that silly sweater that caused me so much distress. It really turned out gorgeous and has gotten a lot of compliments.

A little while later, Suzanne came by with a woman to who wanted to chat with me. It happened to be the girl who started the whole ball rolling on my Pas De Valse obsession.

I had met her in line at Stitch N’ Pitch 2010 while I waited to get a Dodger Dog. She was wearing this beautiful sweater and I just HAD to ask her what the pattern was.

So here she was, Suzanne brought her over to chat. She was admiring my sweater earlier and complimented me on it. Suzanne started to tell her how she wishes she could find the woman who inspired her to knit one of her favorite shawls so she can thank her for prompting her to knit it. Suzanne is very much a woman who likes things to come full circle.

I was thrilled to see her again! I think it is really important to let people know when they are the source of inspiration for you.

So thank you, Jooleeyet! I really am glad I got the opportunity to see you again!
