summer
Another one bites the dust…
I did it. I finally did it. I finished my summer sweater. I finished it at the end of August, but that is okay. I do live in Southern California after all. I guess technically I can wear my summer clothes until…at least…December.
I finished it last week and decided to wear it to my regular Friday Night Stitch n’ Bitch. So, here it is…
I cannot even tell you how glad I am that this project is done! It isn’t like I didn’t enjoy it, but I think I have found that I have limits. All the ladies at the shop are always so impressed that I “get so much done” having 4 year old twins and a full time job…and my volunteer work….and teaching sock knitting…they just don’t know how I do it. To be honest….I don’t either….outside of me being a little manic about things sometimes. So, I have decided my limit is lace knitting. Don’t get me wrong, it isn’t like I can’t do it, I just think it is difficult to do with *distractions*. I did use life lines for the first time on this one and didn’t screw up (thankfully), but I think I could stand a long stint of stockinette sweater knitting.
And that is another thing….I am not feeling the socks lately. I guess I am moving into my sweater phase. This last one turned out so well that I have decided to spin the superwash Wendy gave me and take a stab at “Wicked“.
It is going to be…soooooo gooooood.
Oh, and while I was at the shop that night I got the nicest surprise! Rachelle had overheard me talking about my being homesick and how I miss real Polish food. I mean, out here in L.A. there isn’t much to choose from…well, not like in Hamtramck. People at work have heard me complain that I couldn’t track down a paczki to save my life. Well, imagine how excited I was to find out Rachelle brought me dinner…..
So…verrrrrry….gooooooood.
A decided change of direction…
Ok….So in addition to all the phases I am going through right now, I think I have gone from my spinning phase into some sort of phase where I need to finish things. Let’s take my summer knit for example…I should probably try and get it *done* before the end of summer. But other changes are happening…like I decided to change my hair color.
I am teaching the wee ones to use mommy’s Blackberry camera. I’m just asking for trouble.
I have been working on the neverendingrowansweaterofdoom for a few days now and I am making progress, but it sure seems slow. So in the midst of all that is crazy during the weekend, we decided to go out to dinner and our usual run to the bookstore. I like to park myself on the floor with the kids and read books to them. This time we were checking out the pop-up books. Boy, they sure are way more fancy than when I was a kid. It was nice break from lace knitting and I thought I might get a little inspiration from some good ol’ picture books.
So, now back to reality. The weekend is over, so less time to knit since the work week is upon us. I would love to say “Hey, I bet I could have that sweater done within the week and wearing it by next weekend.”
But I would hate to jinx myself…
Marching Forward…
Ok, I am determined. I am determined to finally get my shit together and start doing what I need to do. I keep putting things off because I need to deal with real life, but real life is overrated. So I am buckling down…working on logo ideas…trying to knit and spin as much as I possibly can. Come on! I know I can do it!
So, on the agenda:
Finish the Kusha Kusha Scarf.
Finish my True Love socks…
Maybe get this sweater done?
Learn to dye roving and maybe a sock blank…
Maybe start selling some things on etsy perhaps. I have only been talking about it FOREVER! Over the past week I had people ask why I am not selling my needle protectors or stitch markers online. Why am I not selling them, who knows?
In other news, I also recieved a lovely package from Stashymama on Ravelry. She sent me some batts from the fleece she bought at Stitches. All cleaned and fluffy. I can’t wait to start spinning them. Lucky me, now I can because I actually cleared my bobbins off last night! I finished spinning and navajo plying the last of my pink and brown Merino/tussah that I purchased in November from Bee Mice Elf. Go me!
