Mystery KAL

A long-awaited FO…

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 | FO's, KAL, knitting, start to finish | No Comments

Wow, I feel like I’ve had my ass handed to me.

It’s been a seriously busy time around my place. The rains have come and the roof still leaks. Visitors in and out of the house….did I mention my mother-in-law is still in town? All of this has taken up some of my crafting time, but luckily not all of it. I still have lunch time at work to get some things done….and the evenings here and there.

I decided to take the weekend to go full tilt on getting at least *something* done.

The Phoenix and The Carpet...

::breathes a sign of relief::

The Phoenix and the Carpet KAL is finally complete for me…well, at least when it comes to the needles. This bad boy still needs to be blocked….which I may wait to do. I still have plenty of boxes left to try and unpack and many bags of things going to the local Goodwill. Floor space is temporarily at a premium.

I’m so excited!

Patience has never been something that comes easy for me. Imagine how painful it is for me to go onto Ravelry and check out The Unique Sheep’s Mystery KAL forums. Oh my goodness, I check my email multiple times a day just to see if they’ve emailed to say it’s been dyed and on it’s way. The anticipation is killing me.

Yesterday, there was a post with colorways for the upcoming KAL. I started drooling when I saw this…

The color I chose on the base I chose! I wonder what the beads will look like?

And while we’re on the topic of shawls…

I wanted to tell you about the package I am eagerly waiting for the postman to bring me.

On Michelle’s recommendation, I decided to sign up for The Unique Sheep’s Mystery Lace KAL. Of course, I did this before I realized what a prejudiced knitter I am. Luckily it is a lace stole.

This one is called The Phoenix and the Carpet. It can be knit with or without beads. I chose the beads. I’m frightened, but I am sure when I am done it will be beautiful. They will roll out clues one at a time, so for those of you not familiar with mystery KAL’s, you basically knit it in stages without seeing what the final project will look like. Awesome way to seduce me into knitting something. I like surprises.

So I am waiting for them to custom dye my yarn. I am hoping to get an email any day now saying it will be shipped and on it’s way to me. I can’t wait to see what the yarn looks like up close and in person. These folks do an awesome job with gradiance colorways.
I chose the Green Sheep Cotton Bamboo Fingering weight in Blazing Bay.
