KAL shaming

Ok people, remember this?

Well, I was pretty much going to get away without anyone noticing. Until someone slipped Friday night…that “someone” being me.

I really have no idea what I was thinking. I was all cocky about people not reading my blog (I mean, who the hell brags about THAT?)

Now, Angelique had known what it was I had done. Not because she had read the blog, but because I had gone to a mixer in Hollywood with her and needed something to talk about in between my threats to take a dip in the pool at the hotel.

So I let it slip…and I explained that I haven’t touched it since…and that I had no plans to touch it until everyone had reached the place I stopped…and then there was some yelling. The whole event was photographed and caught on video…and posted to the Interweb so I could properly be shamed for my crime against the KAL.

My thought process, a KAL.

Thursday, November 4th, 2010 | blah blah blah, knitting, Mishaps | No Comments

I was about to go to bed when I found a stitch marker jumped ship. One more row to knit before sleepytime then......

OK, so I had mentioned I was starting a knit-a-long early because I needed something to do while on the plane. Since the magic of technology actually allows me to write this post and put it up later on while I am doing other things…like not knitting…I figured I would give it a go. A blog in a can, if you will. So while I am writing this at 1:30 in the morning, you will see it later on while I am eating lunch or blowing my nose or something…

It is awesome, yes?

So my girls in the KAL are going to want to pay attention to the picture below. You will need it tomorrow night.

For the girls... My thought process. The chart.

Girls, let me know if this makes sense to you...

So, dear girls…here is my explanation:

First I found errata online that said the chart is actually 15 stitches and not 16. It instructed to remove the first column of stitches in the pattern, which I have done. Then you need to renumber the bottom stitches, ya know, so you can keep it all straight.

I found that the third row of stitches just didn’t add up. To get the correct number of stitches you need to add the SSK (shown in red). Then I highlighted Row 15 of the chart because it just doesn’t look right to me. I can visualize doing this row different, but since I am on row 10 right now, I will need to wait til I get there to fiddle around with it. Someone please remind me to talk to Genevieve about it, because they may want to change the chart in the book, or at last update the errata.

Anyway, for you non-knitters. Good luck figuring out what the hell I just said. ::Giggle::

Crafting Hijinks…

Sunday, March 21st, 2010 | crafts, knitting, Random Craftiness, sewing | No Comments

There is no way that there are enough hours in a day for me to get done the things I *want* to get done.

I am knitting…

The Office Blanket of Doom.

The Office Blanket of Doom.

Yes, out of hibernation and appearing on my living room floor is the Office Blankie of Doom! This isn’t the only thing I have on the needles right now. I am also taking part in a knit-a-long at Unwind sponsored by Classic Elite Yarns. I am knitting the strappy tank…I’ll take some pics of it eventually.

I am also sewing.

I started a couple of skirts...

I started a couple of skirts...

There is a lot I need to learn about sewing. I did do a happy dance when I figured out how to pop off my presser foot. The lapped zippers were a little less fun.

I am also learning how to skin a puppet.

I meant sew skin onto a puppet.

I know…it’s all new to me too…

I would take some pictures, but this puppet gig is for a friend at work and I will wait until he has more of his stuff ready…plus I haven’t asked if he’s down with it yet. I will though. In the meantime, you can check his stuff out here:

Oh lookie….he has pics up!

Spring Forward, Late Summer

Sunday, September 14th, 2008 | knitting | 2 Comments

I was starting to get all twitchy because I have so many projects on the needles and haven’t had an FO in awhile. Finally, I get SOMETHING done!

I have been co-facilitating a sock KAL at the local yarn shop, and the first pattern we picked was Spring Forward from Knitty Summer ’08. The lace was easy-peasy and I did them “two at a time” on one circular. I used Blue Moon Fiber Arts Silkie Socks that Rock,  but I think if I make these again I will use a non-variegated yarn in a thicker weight.

Let’s hope I can get a few more FO’s under my belt before I cast on the October KAL socks…
